Vietnam Visits Vindication

Kate and I are planning a quick jump to the ‘Nam. Pending getting Visa approval and what not, we should be gone for about three weeks in January.

Figure if we spend a few weeks, traveling overland from the North (which is Chilly that time of year) and then heading to the South (HOT!) we should see a lot of country. I reckon we will end up using most types of transportation, plane (unless I can find a tramp steamer to Asia), trains (there are lines connecting the towns on the coast), automobiles (well, worst case scenario…somebody will drive us to Seatac, which counts).

Funny thing, of all the places I’ve gone, more people have input on Vietnam than any other place I’ve been. Suggestions from “You can just fly from City to City!” (No thanks) to “Ask a dry cleaner” (Not sure what to do with that advise, but thanks).

Kate is actively suppressing her desire to plan, willing to abide in my ability to wing it as we go. As a concession, we will book a place for the first night (or will we?).

I need a trip so bad right now, everything is pretty great at home, work is good (I am actually looking for a way to make it more challenging), we have time to spend with our friends.

But I am absolutely jonesing for the freedom of travel. Right now, if events worked out in such a way that we could take more than three weeks off, I would jump all over that.
