Particularly, I am interested in the state of the <video>  roll out. It will be a beauty of a day when folks can post a video and not have to monkey around with Flash (and the various suckiness that comes with that). Thinking I might throw together a page to play around with some of the stuff in the near future.

For example, I was thinking earlier…”We should watch a movie!” and then I thought “Oh no! What if the skirt wants to watch Sex and the City!”.  Finally, I thought “I wonder if there is a graph that can illustrate my feelings?”

 Well, technically no.  However, I can use this graph to show that Sex and City was briefly more popular as a search term.  Which says something.  I don’t know what.
I guess that this wasn’t the best story.

Working on revamping the old LWH homepage. This will most likely take me forever, as I have virtual now skills in the web design/authoring department.

I am using some simple jQuery in the mix. Which makes things move around and look a little more slick.

So far, neat widget in the sidebar of the blog. There is a surprising number of people already on board, you can check their libraries as you browse around.
The interface is decent and responsive, might as well take a spin. You can sign up yourself rightHere.
Personally, I am just adding books as I read them rather then back filling them all. So, go ahead and read along with me.

So as soon as you finish any creative work, it is copy righted (in the US). That’s all well and good, except if you want to allow people to use your stuff, it get’s murky from there.

Well Creative Commons has stepped in to fill the gap (check out the video for a good explanation of where they came from, what they do, and how it may affect you).

For example, many of my flickr images have CC for use by individuals as long as there is attribution to me.

My stuff has a appeared a few places (that I know of).

Animoto is about the easiest way to make a 30 second video I think I have ever seen. Sign in, choose a source (you can pull from sources like flickr, picasa, etc), pick some music (they have a library or you can use your own), and submit. Give it time to render and viola, instant online video. Very slick. I appreciate the transitions, I can see this being big on myspace and the like. Would be nice there was an option to not use Skate Board Movie Transitions.

Also, best tagline ever:

“What is our FTP server setting?” is hardly the question I suspected from my wife, but lo, it has been questioned. Kate, being industry and artsy, threw together ryanandkate.net last night. She did it using iWeb and found it to be pretty easy. Today, she is dorking around creating a blog for it.

Currently, she has a furrowed brow and is lamenting how the page re-acts to link she put in. Could a Word Press powered version be far off? Oh, my heart flutters.

For time being check the site out for some photo albums, a movie review, and general Kate Weirdness.

and further on they they say: "Granof's idea is to have colleges pay a licensing fee to the publisher based on the number of students in a particular class, much like software is licensed."

I would be curious how the publishers work with them on this.

UOP currently charges a flat rate (about $80, depending on program) for access to the text online. They mix in some addition reading links, simulations, and personal progress checks too.

Lacking the ability to illustrate it, we were forced to spend hours at a nearby park enacting the various scenes.

We used Plasq’s Comic Life (AWESOME) to the layout. I then used a neat little flash program to make it flippable. You click on the corners, and drag the page around…go ahead…play with it.
